Announcing! Baking Bread Podcast!

Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! As a way to get the festivities started, I’m incredibly excited to release the first episode of my new podcast, Baking Bread!

I’ve always thought a personal story, and hearing someone’s own voice and ideas can be incredibly moving. I also absolutely believe in the power of sitting down to share good food, coffee, wine, or cocktails.

In fact, I started to realize while cooking, that sometimes the process in the kitchen can resemble a bit what it’s like to engage with mental health too:

  • It can take some time

  • Sometimes it’s not clear how everything will come together

  • It can have a lot of different moving parts

  • Sometimes what we try doesn’t work, and we need a new strategy

  • It’s always helpful when you can share it with other people

  • When we do our best with it, and have some patience, beautiful things can come of it

  • Food and mental health are also just two of my favorite things

So I thought, why not put all of this together? Each episode, we’ll share a recipe for a food or drink item that you can make too. We’ll be joined by someone else in the kitchen, or at the kitchen table (in my case a kitchen counter because our apartment is a snug little home). And just like everyone can engage with cooking, eating, and drinking, we’ll hear how our party guest engages with mental health everyday too.

And just like a good host would, we’ll send you home with a “Takeout Box Tip” so you can put whatever we’re chatting about into action in your life too.

Welcome to Baking Bread! Today's episode is a short chat so we can get to know one another, and hear what this pod will be all about. Each week, we'll connect over a recipe, food or drink that we will fill you all in at.

So from research topics, to relationships, talking about our feelings, or the power of eating ice cream, we’ll chat about it all. Because I believe the things we do everyday have the power to take care of our head and our heart, and I’m excited to help you do that too.

If you’d like to follow along outside of the blog, the podcast is currently available on Anchor, Spotify, and other sources. Hoping for Apple Podcasts soon!

All month long, I’d like to continue to expand our definition of mental health with the hashtag #mentalhealthis. Use this tag, and make sure to tag me too! This could be spending time in the kitchen, taking a bath, watering your flowers, having a good cry, taking your medicine…and so much more. Let’s see what your everyday mental health is and start to show other people too.

Have topics you’d like to hear about this month or on the podcast? Let’s hear them in the comments below! Can’t wait to chat with you all soon,
