Guest of Honor: Loving Our Bodies with Sarah Herman

This year has brought so many changes to our days, our routines, and our stress levels. For many of us, this has also meant changes in our bodies. But long before 2020, we have been receiving so many messages about the most important relationship we have: our connection to ourselves!

Today, as we head into a holiday weekend perhaps including good eats and bathing suits, we are talking with Sarah Herman. Sarah, a dear friend, is the founder and creator behind the website and Instagram account Starving to Strong. Sarah uses her platform to share her journey overcoming an Eating Disorder, and how she continues to grow in her relationship with her body everyday. She’s also just received her Functional Nutritional Therapist license, is the author of an e-book for recipes and workouts, and makes the most incredible recipes that she shares frequently on IG.

I’d recently discovered that my relationship and view of my own body is not that of a best friend. Through my discussion with Sarah, it opened my eyes to just how easily this relationship can be damaged. I walked away with a new found importance for growing my love for this amazing thing called my body, and some specific ways we can do that too.

Grab your coffee, and let’s get chattin!

Much has been changing. Our routines, our world, our stress, and chances are our bodies. But long before 2020 began, how was our relationship with our own bodies? Did we speak to it as a best friend? Did we show ourselves self love? It is a space many of us struggle with.

Recipe: Sarah and I have long chatted about grabbin Will and Foster and doing a trip to Boston! So when deciding what recipe to make, we opted for traveling through our taste buds.

One of the places I deeply miss in Boston is Tatte Bakery. Will and I would go to the Beacon Hill location, and have our morning coffees and breakfast on the park bench in the Public Garden.

When thinking of where I’d love to share a meal and coffee with Sarah, this is hands down the spot. When we found Tatte’s Cinnamon Roses recipe, it felt like a little piece of Boston down in Houston.

Heads up that the dough needs hours in the fridge, so best to make the night before. Otherwise, the easiest and awfully tasty cinnamon rolls I’ve ever made at home!

Take Home Tip:

Begin my practicing positive self talk at least once a day! Whether it is journaling one thing you love about yourself, or even try speaking one thing you love about yourself into the mirror, make it a practice once a day.
