Guest of Honor: Holistic Living with Olivia

Having a healthy life can include many different things. But when we start listing everything from eating plant based to meditating and going to therapy and don’t forget spin, it becomes overwhelming pretty quickly. Where to start? It’s hard enough to remember to drink apple cider vinegar, let alone if you are trying to incorporate all of these healthy practices at once!

In today’s episode, my dear friend Olivia shares more about her life. One that I firmly believe is such a strong example of what it means to live a healthy and holistic life. But perhaps what I find most powerful, is that Olivia shares how she got to today. It wasn’t overnight. Rather, she listened to herself, what she was needing, and got curious.

If she felt anxious, she journaled. If a certain facet of her job as a nurse kept catching her attention, she researched it and went further. She tried spin and it wasn’t for her, so she found barre. The list goes on.

In a world where we are told to live healthy lives, it can often be confusing where to start. Olivia shares how she has walked this journey. And no matter where you are in getting in touch with what you head and your heart needs, I know that this conversation gives some actionable ways to break down this big word called health, and helps you see what you can do today.

Kombucha

During our discussion, Olivia and I were both sippin on Kombucha. Olivia explains that our gut health is so vitally important. Gut health and mental health are often linked! Kombucha is a fizzy drink that helps keep the bacteria in our gut doing it’s thing.

Take Home Tip:

Write. It. Down. At the end of our discussion. Olivia shares that a Forbes article states that writing down our goals improves our odds of meeting them by 42%. After listening to our discussion, spend some time and pick one simple thing that might bring you more connection with your body this week. Perhaps it is listening to your head and heart, considering what you are putting in your body, or how you’re moving (hello kitchen dancing!) Choose one specific item that you would like to try, and write it down.

I do this practice most mornings with my coffee for five minutes. With a blank spot in my calendar, I’ll include some things that feel good for me today. Maybe that’s something specific like drinking more water. Maybe it’s speaking a little more love. Maybe it’s time away from my phone. Maybe it’s a workout video or a ride on the Peloton. If you are having a hard time getting in touch with yourself, maybe a goal of spending some time with a blank journal page feels best.

Write down your goal, be that for the day, the week, the month…and share with us! Tag us on social media and let us hear what you are up to. We’d love to cheer you on and be inspired by you too!
