Guest of Honor: Friendship with Jolene

Hi Everyone! Welcome to Episode 2 of Baking Bread podcast, and the first official full length chat! Today, I’m sitting down with my best friend Jolene. She’s the queen of skincare and non-toxic ingredients as an esthetician, and knows a thing or two about what it means to be a great friend.

I get asked a lot to share about adult friendships, and we feel you! It’s tricky! Between long distance, making new friends, navigating life changes…friendship can be difficult. We also realize that with a few tips, it can also be just the support we need..for the big moments, and the hard ones too. We’ve been from high school homecoming to hard times in college, to getting married less than a month apart. And we talk about our feelings a lot too. So we decided we’d reflect on some of the things that have worked for us, and share it with all of you!

We planned to make smoothies for our chat that were skin friendly, but as life does, I got a flat tire and picked up McDonalds on the way home instead. So below are some skincare smoothie tips from Jolene. And we both agree, along with Jen Gotch, that McDonald’s french fries are great and very much needed sometimes too.

If you’d like to follow along outside of the blog, the podcast is currently available on Anchor, Spotify, and other sources. Or, just click to play below!

Episode Resources:

During our chat, we talked about a few helpful links or resources that you can use and I promised a link! Be sure to follow Jolene on Instagram too.

  1. re:Work from Google has an amazing resource to help you come up with your vision, and how you can put it into action today. While I’ve used this while working with teams, I’ve found it was the only way to help me get my creative ideas and values on paper, and figure out how I can start working toward my goals. Reach out if you’d like to learn more how to apply it!

  2. Motivational Interviewing Values. I’ve referenced this list before! It can be incredibly helpful to sit down and see which values resonate with you from a big list. This one allows you to print and sort them if you’d like.

  3. “A Doodle of You”: Sometimes putting you down on paper and all of the ‘things’ you are can help you get connected. I came across some of my old doodles like this the other day, and it helps me to stay aligned with either things I currently value and feel like me, or some things I’d like to incorporate a bit more.
