Guest of Honor: Savoring & Wine Tasting w/ Wine4Wine

We are doing a live wine tasting on Baking Bread! Our guest of honor, Jake of the Wine4Wine Instagram account and my brother-in-law, walks us through how to fully be present and experience a beautiful glass.

If you're curious what mental health and wellness has to do with a glass of wine, we chat all about that too! It was while reading my summer textbook, Positive Psychotherapy Clinician Manual, that I discovered the topic of Savoring. Essentially, we’ve gotten really good at multi-tasking, moving quickly, and checking a lot off of the to-do list. But the problem is, that isn’t so good for our brain, success, or happiness.

Dr. Tayyab Rashid and Dr. Martin Seligman propose that we need to find moments to help our brain practice slowing down and fully engaging with only one thing. While you can most certainly do this with food, activities, etc, I was reminded of the beauty of fully being present while sharing a bottle of wine.

A quick text to Jake, and here we are! We can’t wait to share this discussion and bottle with all of you!

A quick note: Today’s episode does involve discussion and drinking of alcohol. If you are someone who is in recovery or is working on reducing your alcohol consumption, please feel free to skip this week’s episode. We will be back next week and will include additional ways to practice savoring in the future too!

Listen to the episode below or via one of the links provided, and don’t miss following Jake to continue sharing bottles with him via Instagram! !

Wine Tasting!

If you'd like to join the tasting, we are sharing a bottle of La Rioja Alta Vina Alberdi 2015. Grab your glass, and come chat with us about the act of slowing down and savoring.

Take Home Tip:

Today, our take home tip is included in our chat! We invite you to slow down, and practice savoring. Perhaps it’s through our live tasting (which you can totally listen to at any time!) or another opportunity to slow down and share a moment with yourself or the ones you love. It’s not only good for our hearts, but good for our brain. It was an honor to share this tasting with all of you!
