Recipe: Garden House Basil Gimlet
Spring is here, the trees are budding, and we’ve been spending a lot of time in the garden. Fresh citrus and herbal scents surround the season, and the time outdoors has been good for the soul. To celebrate the season of growth, I recently developed The Garden House Basil Gimlet. Inspired by our blooming citrus trees, with limes from the market and basil from our garden, it really is a spring garden in a glass.
Garden House Basil Gimlet
Ingredients:
2oz Citadelle Gin
1oz lime juice (about half a large lime or 1 whole small one)
1oz agave nectar
Pesto Perpetuo Basil- 6 or so leaves
4 large ice cubes or so
Steps:
Rinse the basil, and muddle the leaves in the bottom of a cocktail shaker. Add the lime juice, and continue muddling until flimsy.
Add the gin and agave nectar.
Add ice cubes, and shake using the cocktail shaker until the outside of the shaker is cold, or the ice appears to be breaking down.
Strain to remove basil, pouring into a small cocktail glass such as a Nick and Nora or Coupe. Or of course, bonus if you have a vintage floral glass!
Stroll outside to your favorite spot, and enjoy the spring.
